Initiatives with Wayuu communities

Based on its participatory diagnosis methodology, the ACDI/VOCA LA Foundation implements 10 compensation community projects, in the territories with the presence of wind measurement towers.

To build trust with the communities, the specific skills that strengthened in this program are acknowledging the other, respect for the generation of agreements, teamwork, solidarity and cooperation for the benefit of family and community life.

General objective

Strengthening of the Wayuu communities in the area of influence of the Wind Power Projects in compliance with the prior consultation compensation commitments between Enel Green Power and 10 Wayúu communities that inhabit territories with the presence of wind measurement towers, achieving the generation of trust and empowerment.

Specific objectives

  1. Build trust and empower the communities, strengthening personal attitudes for community life, through the promotion of soft skills for self-recognition and self-care.

  2. Maximise the impact and sustainability of the project through public-private partnerships with local governments, other companies present in the area and the international cooperation to improve the living conditions of the beneficiary population.

Project Scope

The implementation of this project is meant to comply with the prior consultation compensation commitments between Enel Green Power and 10 Wayuu communities: Flor de la Frontera, Urraichi, Küisa, Wuatchuari, Flor de la Guajira, Castilletes, Topia, Warrutamana, Siapana and Patomana.
