Collection center in the Gulf of Morrosquillo

With the purpose of promoting artisanal fishing, the Corporación de Pescadores Artesanales del Golfo de Morrosquillo e Islas de San Bernardo, Corpagolfo, in alliance with Andarko and the ACDI/VOCA LA Foundation, launched their collection center and launched the social brand Morrosquín, which identifies them as a company committed to responsible fishing.

CORPAGOLFO has one of the most modern collection centres in the Caribbean, equipped with the latest technology and with the capacity to supply products locally and regionally. The challenge is to start your operation with a vision of sustainability, complementing the processes of responsible fishing, supply and marketing within the fishing chain.

Objectives

  1. Promote and consolidate Corpogolfo as an organization that carries out a sustainable commercial activity and in balance with the environment.
  2. Promote responsible fishing and improve the quality of live of the fishermen in the region.
  3. Develop a training program in responsible fishing through workshops on good conservation practices, handling and product distribution practices.

Project Scope

The project benefits nearly 14,000 families in the Colombian Caribbean.

They invested nearly 1,600 million pesos in infrastructure, endowment, technical assistance for the start-up of the fishing collection centre.
